ARRANGEMENTS IN CASE OF SNOW/SEVERE WEATHER
Here are the arrangements should we need to close school due to bad weather conditions. We will obviously endeavour to remain open and a decision to close our school (taking in to account local authority recommendations) will not be taken lightly.
Parents/carers will receive an email and text message, as soon as a decision is made, to advise of any school closure. Please ensure, therefore, that you keep us up to date with any changes to phone numbers and email addresses.
You will also be able to check if school is closed by looking on the Bolton Council website School closures – Bolton Council and on the school website www.markland-hill.bolton.sch.uk) which we will update as soon as possible.
It would only be in extreme circumstances that we would close the school after children have arrived. Again a message would be sent to parents and no child would be allowed to leave the school on their own to walk home and a parent or representative would be required to collect in person. Children who normally walk home from school may be given permission but only if their parents agree to this on the day. If parents are unable to collect, children will remain in school, supervised by a member of staff, until the end of the school day. No after school activities would take place and parents would be asked to collect children no later than their normal finish time.
If you have any queries whilst school is closed please feel free to email the school on office@markland-hill.bolton.sch.uk, and we will endeavour to answer your questions as soon as possible.
I hope this clarifies the matter but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Yours sincerely
Mrs J Kavanagh
Head Teacher
